I live and work in South London and graduated from the Ruskin School of Art (Oxford) in 2023. Via life casting in silicone, resin and latex I seek to translate difficult themes like sexual-violence, domination and voyeurism into precise arrangements of human bodies. In this task I am informed by feminist re-readings of classical texts such as Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Milton’s Paradise Lost. In these stories I am intrigued by instances of women portrayed as threatening, cases that temporarily invert our everyday understandings of masculine aggression and feminine victimhood. Following from this I am also interested in the process of experiencing sculpture in the gallery setting - I seek to implicate the viewer by making them contort their body to look at my work. I want to interrogate who holds the power to look and how being looked at can be a different kind of power (linking to contemporary debates around porn). My work is also highly personal, drawn from traumatic and emotionally difficult moments in my own life. I fear being on the precipice of being engulfed by a sexual or romantic relationship and loosing that which makes me singular. My debut solo show was at Feelium Gallery (Nov 2024). In addition, I have shown in numerous group shows in London, Hamburg, Berlin and Cambridge (UK). Currently I am finishing up producing a new body of work comprising of six sculptures and one painting. Alongside this, I edit and run the bi-annual Gabble Magazine of Art Criticism which prints pieces by writers about their artist friends. I curate the launch show for each edition which features all artists included in the magazine.
